Another collection containing solid leather with an embossed counterpart, Modena is best described as the ultimate "pull-up" leather. Distressed to the maximum degree, these pure aniline, full-grain hides are vacuum-dried to create a smooth, dense texture, then treated with a heat-reactive paraffin. This finish will readily scratch, yet the scratch mark will miraculously disappear when rubbed. Likewise, the hides will lighten (i.e. the color will "pull-up") significantly when stretched, but return to its original color when exposed to body heat. Modena is not "static," but will change its appearance based on use. Modena is a rugged, natural-appearing leather, so range marks and healed scars are visible. It has the least amount of protection because the leather is treated to look worn and aged with use.
The four colors in Modena are also available with a playful margherita (Italian for "daisy") pattern. Margherita is unusual in two regards: it is produced on whole hides, resulting in a large cutting area, and it is embossed on the back, or flesh side, of the leather, so that the pattern is subtler and less contoured than other embossments.
