Cortina Leathers Featured in Pennyweight Hotel Boston

Cortina Leathers is pleased to be featured in the newly opened Pennyweight Hotel in Boston's historic West End, a project designed by JCJ Architecture and spotlighted in the Spring 2025 issue of Boston Home and the April issue of Premier Hospitality. A Hilton Curio Collection hotel, the Pennyweight's design masterfully blends urban sophistication with nods to Boston's rich history, incorporating materials, finishes, and art that evoke the city's character.
Three Cortina Leathers collections, all protected by Crypton®, were selected for their durability and aesthetic appeal, contributing to the hotel's inviting and resilient interiors. The integration of Cortina's Crypton-protected leathers ensures that the Pennyweight Hotel provides guests with a comfortable and enduring environment that reflects both modern elegance and the local area's eclectic historical charm.
Exerpt from Boston Home:
Designed by JCJ Architecture, the design and finishes evoke an urban sophistication with an eclectic and irresistible spirit. “We approached the design with a deep respect for Boston’s history while also embracing the city’s character,” says Carrie Nielsen, an associate and senior project designer for the firm. Guest rooms feature a soft palette of greens and neutral tones, juxtaposed by striking bathrooms that feature black quartz and rose-gold vanities, open showers with black metal–framed glass panels, and wallpaper created with a collection of repurposed print articles from the iconic West Ender newsletter as a nod to the neighborhood’s storied past.
Exerpt from Premier Hospitality:
As part of the design for several spaces in the hotel, the designers from JCJ Architecture chose three performance leather collections from Cortina Leathers, all protected by Crypton® and made in the USA: Chesapeake in Gold Dust for lobby seating, Florence in Oceana for bar stools, Cuyahoga in Drop Anchor for ottomans, and Cuyahoga in Driftwood for dining chairs.
Jack Prause from Cortina Leathers said: "It was an honor to be part of the Pennyweight Hotel project and a joy to collaborate with JCJ Architecture as part of their creation of this sophisticated, innovative and luxurious interior. We feel the results showcase how genuine leathers enhance the guest experience and the aesthetic of a truly notable and timeless design."
