Perforated Leather Wall Panels
Designer: Vocon

Project Details
The design team at Vocon brings texture, sophistication, and architectural detail to a private wealth management firm with leather wrapped accoustical soundproofing wall panels.

A NEW DIMENSION IN DESIGN.
In designing the interiors for a private wealth management firm in New York City, Vocon envisioned a sophisticated environment where materiality, thoughtful detailing, and functionality play essential roles. Nowhere was this balance more important than in the firm's conference room, where client confidentiality demanded an effective soundproofing solution without compromising the refined aesthetic of the space.
Traditional acoustical wall systems can have a distinctly commercial appearance. Vocon's design team sought a more elevated approach, incorporating a luxury material that would conceal the acoustical panels while maintaining their performance. Genuine leather offered an opportunity to introduce warmth, texture, and architectural luxury to this highly functional space.
Working with Cortina Leathers, Vocon selected Cortina's Issimo leather in Olive and explored custom perforation as a way to integrate the material into the acoustical wall system. After reviewing a selection of available patterns, the team chose a subtle, small-dot perforation that complemented the project's understated design language.
The precision perforations introduce a delicate, consistent pattern across the leather surface, creating visual texture while allowing the underlying acoustical system to perform as intended. Arranged in a clean, geometric composition, the custom leather panels bring depth, dimension, and the natural character of genuine leather to the conference room.
The result is an elegant architectural feature that feels both contemporary and timeless, supporting the firm's need for privacy and confidentiality while honoring Vocon's design vision.
This project demonstrates the versatility of genuine leather beyond traditional upholstery and the creative possibilities that emerge when designers collaborate with Cortina to develop custom materials for specialized architectural applications.
